New opening hours at RIVAL – now open 24 hours a day, Monday toFriday. On 2 February 2004, we introduced a trial period with evening and night shifts. We evaluated the project and the conclusion was that RIVAL would be able to offer round-the-clock service to its customers.
For customers, the advantages of introducing shifts are as follows: - Even shorter delivery times. - Round-the-clock service. - Greater capacity on key machines. - Possibility of RIVAL hiring additional employees and thereby increasing our capacity even further.
Our attitude to shift work is as follows: - There must be a team of at least five employees at work at any one time. - The management must be visible at all times. - The employees who work shifts must be happy to do so. - The employees who work shifts must earn an obvious reward, be it higher wages or additional time off. - The evening and night shifts must be as efficient as the day shift or more. - The evening and night shifts should concentrate mainly on mass production.
